A Widly Useful Roundup of Creative Resources
For creative entrepreneurs and DIY business owners
We all know the internet is expansive (okay, that’s a severe understatement). Oh yes, it’s also a black-hole. Searching for resources can suck a whole productive day out of your week and with so many options to choose from, knowing where to even start can be a battle.
And, as I’ve mentioned before, I love (over)sharing!
So today I’m rounding up the most useful creative resources for you, creative entrepreneurs and DIY business owners. From logos to patterns to learning new skills, read on to find the resources that will benefit you and your brand the most.
Font, Raster & Vector Assets
With a doubt, my number 1 favourite in design assets, Design Cuts works with a wide selection of designers to bring you 2 discounted bundles a month. Like, seriously discounted. Like, 95% off. You’re looking at paying $25-$29 per bundle, you can use PayPal and each bundle is themed.
Another great resource with a huge variety of offerings. Anything from fonts to stock photos and digital papers to editable patterns. As a bonus, they offer 6 free downloads every week. That’s reason enough to go create your free account right now.
DEATH TO THE STOCK PHOTO
I’m 99% sure you know about this already, but go sign up and get awesome and quality stock photos delivered to your inbox. Free to use for your web and blog graphics. Or anything else you can think of.
Yip, fonts can be expensive, but MyFonts has so many free options, too. Search the tag free and start building up your font library.
100% free, this library of fonts is huge. All websafe and great for print too, some awesome options to include in your branding.
ELLE & CO.
I got to see the full extent of this amazing library of resources during Spruce Rd’s Lunch & Learn 2 weeks ago and it’s pretty amazing! For $6.99 a month, you’ll have access to templates, workbooks and printables and they are all beautifully designed. Did I mention it’s updated every month with new resources?
Nesha runs the Shelancers Club and the $9.99 will get you a lot of bang for your buck. A Facebook group, exclusive posts, behind-the-scene strategy and occasionally printables.
THINK CREATIVE COLLECTIVE
Emylee and Abigail run Biz Chic Co-op where they share strategies, worksheets, webinar replays and Business Building Materials for $22-$25 a month. Everything that’s available in their online store is available to monthly subscribers (minus the paid e-courses).
COURSES & CLASSES
Having a Skillshare account means I can learn a new skillset or brush up on an old one in an afternoon! Thinking of trying your hand at hand lettering? There are 69 courses to enroll in, from modern calligraphy to label design. Not sure how to make the perfect grilled cheese? They have classes for that too. I’m pretty sure at least one of these courses would make the monthly fee of $8-$10 so worth it.
And I wasn’t even kidding about the grilled cheese - that’s here.
This is the go-to for many freelancers and small business owners who don’t have Adobe Creative Cloud and are looking to create pinnable images for their web and blog graphics. They have free and paid options and you can even upload your own fonts.
ADOBE CREATIVE CLOUD
The most widely used graphic software company and for good reason. You can choose your subscription level, access their library of colour palettes and graphics and watch their tutorials on all the apps. Created to work seamlessly with all Adobe mobile apps, it's a dream for graphic creation of any sort. Set up your blog graphic, moodboard and other templates in Illustrator, InDesign or Photoshop and get to work!
Do you DIY all your graphics and assets? I'd love to hear about are your favourite resources for the creative work in your business?
